Primary School Assistant Principal (Gr. 2-5)
Join ISZL as our next Primary School Assistant Principal
At the International School of Zug and Luzern (ISZL), we’re not just another international school. We’re a vibrant, curious, and courageous learning community where over 1,200 students from 52 nationalities come together to explore, create, and grow.
We’re searching for a Primary School Assistant Principal who is ready to lead with heart, courage, and conviction.
This is a full-time position and will begin in August of 2026.
The Role
At ISZL, our Assistant Principals are first and foremost learning leaders. This role is about shaping the conditions for great teaching and joyful learning every single day.
As Primary School Assistant Principal at our Zug Campus, you will:
- Work closely with the Principal, Early Years Assistant Principal, and PYP Coordinator to champion pedagogy, inquiry, and student growth across Upper Primary.
- Inspire and support teachers to be bold in their practice, while keeping learning at the heart of planning, assessment, and reflection.
- Walk alongside students—celebrating successes, tackling challenges, and ensuring every learner feels seen, supported, and stretched.
- Partner with parents in authentic, collaborative ways that build trust and strengthen our community.
- Lead courageously: having the tough conversations when they matter, balancing accountability with empathy.
- Keep things running smoothly—yes, there’s scheduling, events, and the day-to-day rhythm of school life—but always with students and learning as the compass.
What we’re looking for
- A qualified Primary teacher with solid experience in upper primary years.
- Proven leadership experience (3–5 years) in international schools, with the cultural agility and global mindset to thrive in a diverse community.
- A strong understanding of the IB PYP framework and a genuine passion for inquiry-based learning.
- A relevant Master’s degree is preferred, though strong leadership experience will be equally valued.
- A leader who is passionate about making teaching and learning matter; courageous in conversations; compassionate and human—with humor in your toolkit and empathy in your practice.
Why ISZL?
Because ISZL is more than a school. It’s a community where:
- Students inspire you daily. With 52 nationalities in our Primary School alone, curiosity and cultural diversity are part of every lesson.
- Innovation matters. We champion bold ideas in teaching and learning, and we want leaders who bring fresh thinking to pedagogy.
- Collaboration is real. You’ll be part of a leadership team that supports and challenges each other, in a school that believes learning is a shared journey.
- Switzerland is your campus. Lakes, mountains, and world-class cities are all at your doorstep—balance professional impact with an incredible lifestyle.
At ISZL, you don’t just join a school. You join a mission to grow courageous, compassionate learners—and you get to have a lot of fun doing it. Come join us!
